Day 5-From Provincetown, Massachusetts,to Mystic, Connecticut

We woke up refreshed, and went to the “continental breakfast”…homemade muffins, including Emily’s favorite: Chocolate Chip! After checking out, we headed to the “tip” of Cape Cod, Provincetown! The sun was shining and the sky was blue!

We stopped in a town named Truro, just because that is the name of the town where our dear British friends lived, in Truro, Cornwall, England! They traveled a lot in the states, and I wish we could ask them now, if they had ever visited Truro, Massachusetts…🥲

When we arrived to “P-town”, there were lots of tourists of course, and stores to shop in. All of us got a Cape Cod tee shirt.

We had been told we should eat at the “Lobster Pot”, so of course, we did! It did not disappoint. Betty and I had our first Lobster Rolls. YUMMMM! Emily is holding out for the place that her nephew recommended in Maine. 😊

As we walked towards the car parking lot Emily pointed out “we don’t see a sign like THAT very often at a take out window!”…”Clams, Scallops, Shrimp, Hot Dogs, Burgers!” So true.

Looking back towards town, we noticed a tall tower. We were told it was a “Watch Tower”. There also was a monument to the brave men who made it to establish this land, through sacrifice!

Monument with tower in the background.
Better idea how tall this is!

We walked out on the Pier as far as we could, so we could say we’d been to the very tip! We learned that THIS wa the place that the Pilgrims actually landed first. It was too stormy and dangerous that November, to approach land, so they had to go down the coast to THIS point of land. Although they landed there, it was not where they had contracted to live. A month later they were able to safely set sail again.and arrive at Plymouth. We experienced the sun peaking in and out all day, and we felt the favor of the Lord while were there.!

Lots of boats!
On one of the other piers
At the tippiest tip of Cape Cod!

As we drove away, there were scattered showers, but it did not hamper the driving. When we made one stop to “potty” and walk awhile, Betty and I returned to find Emily leaning into the heat of the car. She was enjoying the heat treatment!

Ahhhh so nice and warm!

We had not decided how far south to drive until our meeting the ladies at the beach a day or two before. They all agreed that Mystic, Connecticut was worthy of a visit. We all remember a movie called Mystic Pizza, that was partially filmed there.

Note of interest: it was 6pm and the whole town seemed dead. No stores open, no people on the street, and houses looked empty! Until we punched in “Mystic Pizza.” THEN, we saw the boats in the harbor, and people walking to the quaint part of town with places to eat, get ice cream and souvenirs! And, we found our choice for dinner! It was YUMMY…

So pretty
We saw the drawbridge going up as we approached where we had “dessert first”, farther down on the left
Nice art to look at while we “licked!”

So, after dinner it was after 8…..I loved the sign at night!

A little history:

We drove to the edge of the city of Providence RI, and got a room for the night. When we went inside, and told him we wanted a room with 2 queen beds on the first floor, he said there were none, but then said he wasn’t supposed to give away the handicapped room until all others were booked, but he said he COULD give it to us if we weren’t offended by it! Betty and I said “No, we are old and sometimes can’t get up the steps! LOL!”

We were blessed again by a wonderful day of sightseeing!
